Pride and Prejudice
By Jane Austen
The Bennet girls must marry and marry well to secure their futures. So, when Mr Bingley – a man with everything to recommend him – enters the neighbourhood there is cause for excitement. He brings with him his friend Mr Darcy. But good looks and a large fortune aren’t sufficient for Lizzy Bennet to overlook Mr Darcy’s pride and conceit; not least when he slights her at a ball, and she is not one to forgive and forget. Thrown together by circumstance, the two verbally spar, and it would seem that Lizzy may well have come up against her match, but is there more to Mr Darcy than she first thought…?

Reviews For This Title
From audience members of the 2024 Maddermarket Theatre staging -
Literally the best adaptation Of P & P I've ever seen and I include TV and film versions. It had confidence and flow, humour, passion and compassion.
Just saw the Friday night performance, absolutely superb. A brilliant adaptation, great cast and a wonderful performance.
The play skillfully balanced moments of humor, romance, and drama, keeping the audience engaged from start to finish. It is a must-see for enthusiasts of classic literature
I was apprehensive about seeing yet another version of Pride and Prejudice - I know it so well; I have played Elizabeth - but I was delighted by this refreshing, new adaptation at the Maddermarket Theatre.
